Therapy for Twice Exceptional Individuals

The term “Twice exceptional”, or 2e, refers to a person who is considered gifted in intelligence, while also living with a disability of some kind. Common examples of this are that they have a high Intelligence Quotient (IQ), but also have ADHD or Dyslexia, making it difficult to live up to the expectations society has for them. This can lead to the twice exceptional person to experience higher rates of depression, anxiety, and anger. The 2e person can benefit from having therapy at any age to develop healthy ways of coping and to learn to adapt unhelpful/distorted thoughts. Social skills are often a useful part of treatment for the twice exceptional person as well, and can help reduce incidences of loneliness or low self-esteem. Please contact me today to schedule a free consultation about the benefits of psychotherapy for the twice exceptional person.
